Meeting the Teton Sioux
September 25, 1804. We met with the Teton Sioux. They stole John Colter's horse and we were instructed to fight them if necessary. This morning three chiefs and a lot of their warriors arrived. They gave us gifts and meat, and we gave each of the leaders a medal, and we gave them a cocked hat, and a scarlet military cloak. they were not pleased so we took on board the Keelboat and we gave them some of our whiskey. They refused to get off the boat when asked. then we pointed guns at them and they pointed arrows at us. I was really scared. Then the chief Black Buffalo worked it out.

Beautiful job this week, Dan. I love your view from Floyd's grave. I have been there and no the river and the hills very well. I also enjoyed very much your description of the meeting with the Teton Sioux. Were you scared?

Excuse me, I didn't read down for some reason. Just before closing I noticed not only your pictures, but your great descriptions of Sgt. Floyd's death and your daily meals. Good job.
